'Jester's Crown' Plant_Patent #16531
Nephrolepis obliterata

Nephrolepis obliterata

‘Jester’ Brand new from Sunlet Nursery! 'Jester’s Crownppaf' is clearly a new and very desirable fern. 'Jester’s Crownppaf' is a landscape fern that is good for zones 8b and higher. Looking so unique that it should be rapidly picked up by landscape architects for the distinct deep blue/green color of the fronds that appear with a gentle twist as they grow upwards. (Finished height to 30”.) NOTE: 'Jester’s Crownppaf' is also very well behaved as a large table fern and can be used in baskets from 8” to 14”. Easy to grow! Each fern comes with a vividly colored tag.

We highly recommend this fern!

Culture for best commercial production:

Light: 1500 fc to 2200 foot candles (60% shade). Will take morning or late afternoon sun in the garden.

Temperature: Grow between 63º to 80º F as a basket or table fern. Outside under saran it is fine between 35º and 100º+. In the landscape it will die back in hard frosts, but will come back in the spring. Good in zones 8b and higher.

Feed: Constant feed 100 ppm nitrogen from a slightly acid fertilizer similar to Excel 15-5-15.

Water & Potting Mix: Allow to just dry between waterings. Grow in a well draining mix that includes some peat. Slow release ok only if managed very carefully over the rainy season when it can raise the salt levels in the mix.

Pest Control: Normally pest and fungus free!

Container: Quickest turn as a 6”, but looks great as an 8” and awesome as a 10”.

Schedule: (starting with a Santa Rosa Tropicals plug)
One gallon...18 weeks winter & 14 weeks summer.
Three gallon...10 to 12 weeks if bumped up from a one.
Table fern or hanging basket...4” pot 6 to 8 weeks.
Just when roots make a stable root ball bump-up into larger containers.
6” pot or basket 12 to 14 weeks
