‘Tiger Fern’
Nephrolepis exaltata

Nephrolepis exaltata

New! Different! Available now from Santa Rosa Tropicals! ‘Tiger Fern’ makes a big basket that has strikingly different colors from all other fern baskets. It is a fast grower and looks good in all size pots up to 12” baskets. Requires absolutely no special care...Put a Tiger in your Greenhouse'TM and catch the market excitement to this new introduction. Plant Patent 15315.

Culture for best commercial production:

Light: Best on the bright side. 1400 to 1900 foot candles.

Temperature: Best cool but grows well between 63° to 85° F. Outdoors this fern will grow well in zones 9, 10, & 11.

Feed: 100 ppm on constant feed is fine. Excel 15-5-15 or 21-5-20 or similar. For this fern ‘more’ is not necessarily better!

Water: Almost dry between waterings, with good drainage it can take more water.

Potting Mix: this is often dictated by what is available locally. The key elements are low salts and excellent drainage. Some peat helps to retain fertilizer salts and keep water available to the root hairs.

Pest Control: Talstar® or Orthene® (Soluble Powder) + Talstar ® ok if needed for labeled insect control.

Container: Beautiful as a 6" or 8" pot, but SPECTACULAR as a basket!

Schedule: (starting with a Santa Rosa Tropicals plug)
4” liner for transplanting - 8 weeks
6” pot from a plug – 14 to 16 weeks
8” pot from a 4” liner – 16 weeks
10” pot from a 4” liner – 24 weeks
